galletas

i live in an area of town that never sleeps...yeah!..i said never. several times throughout the week i´ll get up in the middle of the night just to look out the window and make sure i´m not alone. last night i got up at 4:30 to eat some cookies and had to have a glimpse to see who was out...unbelieveably the street was deserted...totally quiet. it was a bit unnerving to be honest. i´m not sure if it was from the fact that i had just eatten four cookies in the middle of the night or that my normally lively street looked so vacant. when i finally got up for good this morning to eat some more cookies with my yogurt, i realized that maybe i´m not so good at being alone.

castellers

so i went this weekend to granollers, a town outside bcn to stay with a friend and see some of the festivities ending the week-long party in her town. this morning they did something i was TOTALLY unprepared for....groups of people built human towers, called castellers, of unbelieveable height. i have to admit that this pic is not from this morning (i can´t connect my camera to the comp at the second), but the pics i took looked just like this one that was taken in bcn. i´m not sure what impressed me the most...was it the crazy people making the bed to brake the fall at the bottom? was it the bases that were supporting the entire weight of the structure? was it the little ones that climbed to incredible heights and risked a fall? was it just the energy, tension and excitement that pulsed throughout the crowd? well, maybe it was all of it the made the whole experience so unforgetable, but i have to say the aspect i found most interesting was the man or men that stood at the very bottom..below the bases that can be seen by the crowd...they are absolutely unseen and unknown throughout the process. they get no glory for the support and strength that they offer, but they are absolutely necessary. without getting too philosophical, i wonder how many people have offered their strength and support to me over the years that i have failed too notice or thank? well, thanks... :)
